Who
The Aputaras are native Ghanaians who were informally supported by BRBC members for several years. They were formally adopted as missionaries in 2009. In March 2009 BRBC helped raise funds to purchase a reliable pick-up truck suitable for Stephen to reach the many remote villages to which he ministers.
What
Stephen is an entrepreneurial pastor affiliated with the Bible Church of Africa (BCA). He is currently serving as the senior pastor of All Souls Bible Church in Navrongo and is president of BCA. Reverend Aputara oversees sixteen additional churches, supervising disaster management efforts in the region, and leading an organization devoted to serving widows and orphans. Stephen teaches at the Bible Training Center in Chiana in the Kassena/Nankana District and also teaches at the Leadership Training Center in Navrongo. A major focus of Stephen’s work is construction of grammar schools in his region.
Why
Stephen came to Christ in 1982 and his life was changed immediately. Since that time he has been devoted to God’s work. He received his degree in theology from Maranatha Bible College (Accra) in 1992. God has called Stephen and his family to minister to the people of this region whose primary religion is ancestor worship and Islam.
Where
Navrongo is in the extreme north of Ghana, very close to the border with Burkina Faso.
When
Stephen has ministered in this region for 22 years and planted the church he currently pastors in 1998. BRBC began to provide formal support to them in January 2009.
Sending agency and support from BRBC
The Bible Church of Africa, for which Stephen served as president until this year, is his sending agency. BRBC provides most of the ministry’s regular support.
