…helping people know God better and love him more!

Missions

It has been said that a church's sending capacity is a better measurement tool for maturity than its seating capacity. We agree with that statement, and it is our goal to send people into the world - both the world that they live in and the world at large. We seek to impact our surrounding communities with outreach and evangelism, seeking to build relationships with pre-Christians so that we can assist them as they come to know Christ.

Globally, we pour resources, time, energy, personnel, and money into world evangelism. We have sent several families from our church into full time mission work, and our stated goal is for 10% of our adult attendance each year to go on a foreign mission trip.

We currently have several Missionaries that we support through prayer and finances around the world. We encourage you to follow how God is using them in their work.

Saturday, November 1st, 2008 | By Rich Shipe | Posted in Announcements, Calendar, Get Involved, Missions, Service Opportunities, Youth | No Comments »

Through a simple gift-filled shoe box, Operation Christmas Child brings the excitement of Christmas and the good news of God’s love to children in desperate situations around the world. An amazing 7.6 million shoe boxes were shipped to more than 100 countries last year. Over 600 of them came from BRBC! Everyone can be involved in this simple, hands-on missions project. The national collection week for the shoe boxes is November 17-22. BRBC again will be a collection center (Monday-Friday 5:30-7:30 p.m. & Saturday 9-Noon). For more information, or if you would like to volunteer in the collection center (16 & up only), please contact Courtney Shipe (allshipesandsizes[at]gmail.com).

[UPDATED - Potluck will now be for BRBC supported missionary Andrew Hawes. All other details remain the same.]

We have the opportunity to meet and hear from Paul and Misty Rude, missionaries to native Alaskans. The Rudes were previously sponsored by BRBC but are now on furlough and will be here October 19 to share what God has been doing through them in Alaska. Everyone is invited to a potluck after the worship service (12:30 p.m. to approx. 3 p.m.). Please RSVP by the bulletin tear-off or go to missions@brbible.org so we can get an estimate of the number, and bring a main dish for 10 and either a dessert or salad. Also, remember that these potlucks are valuable opportunities for fellowship!

Mini-Missions Potluck with Rogers Hellman

Monday, August 11th, 2008 | By Rich Shipe | Posted in Announcements, Calendar, Get Involved, Missions | 1 Comment »

Rogers Hellman, a former long-time BRBC member, left Purcellville in 2004 to start the Gnosis Project, with a focus towards getting improved medical care to the poorest people in Central America by providing the ability to collect and retain medical records even though people cannot read or write, or may not possess “official” government identification. Through a unique software tool and biometrics, their medical records can be stored on a computer in their villages so that medical histories are available to visiting physicians. Come to an after-church potluck to meet Rogers and hear about his ministry. RVSP by indicating your interest on the bulletin tear-off or contact Bob Mottice (rmottice@msn.com).
