The Women’s Prayer Group meets on the fourth Monday of each month. We share prayer requests and spend the majority of the time praying. We loosely follow the format of praise, confession, thanksgiving, and intercession that was shared during the Women’s Retreat in 2011. We keep a written record of our prayers in journals and just recently we spent one of our times together praising God for all of the answered prayers over the last year of meeting. At one of our prayer group times, you might see crying, laughing, and Bible pages flipping as we turn to just the right scripture to pray at that moment. (more…)

Our speakers’ presentations at the January 2012 Women’s One-Day Retreat were so terrific and challenging, we wanted to make them available to everyone for review and for those who couldn’t attend. Here is a summary of each speaker’s comments. It was a powerful day filled with great teaching, fellowship, sharing and growing in our spiritual walk with our Lord!

If you’re a Christian, you’ve heard about the gospel, or the good news, that Christ died to pay the price for your sin and rose again to conquer death and hell forever. We are grateful for the future we have in heaven. But what difference does the gospel make in our every-day lives? How should it change the way we live right now? (more…)

It’s often in the nitty gritty of family life where we see the gospel lived out. The ideal is that out of our relationship with Christ, we act in love and grace, not out of selfishness. We act in love, out of who we are in Christ. We want to be conformed more and more into the image of Christ and we want that same thing in others. Colossians 2:6 tells us, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him.” We received the incredible good news of the gospel, received Christ as Lord, and now we are to live in the knowledge of Him and of that truth and dependent on His Spirit living in us. That truth is to make a difference in how we live and how we relate to others. (more…)

In the last ten years, we’ve gone on six family mission trips to Ireland. It is scary at times. It’s a lot of work getting there too. I probably spend more hours planning the trip than we actually spend in Ireland. It’s a lot of money that we could use to buy other things. It means the kids miss out on things, like scouting camp, and horse shows and the national vaulting championships, year after year. But, it means so much more. It means my family and I have a relationship with another country and another culture. It means we say ”gabh mo leithsceal” at the dinner table instead of “excuse me” and “Slan abhuile” when one of us leaves the house, instead of “Goodbye, get there safely”. It means all eight of us drink a lot of Irish tea, and never Lipton. It is much more than a family vacation. And yet, it is more than a mission trip too. It is a spiritual boot camp. It is a family tradition and culture builder. It is a large part of who we are as a family. (more…)

Speaker: Tedd Tripp
March 30-31, 2012 at Blue Ridge Bible Church
Dr. Tedd Tripp draws on over 30 years of experience as a pastor, counselor, school administrator, and father in giving his valuable help to parents. Shepherding a Child’s Heart is about how to speak to the heart of your child. The things your child does and says flow from the heart. Luke 6:45 puts it this way, “…out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.” (NIV) Designed for parents with children of any age, this seminar provides perspectives and procedures for shepherding your child’s heart into the paths of life. Purchase his book here: Shepherding a Child’s Heart. Continue reading for complete details. (more…)
