Childcare Opportunity for LIFE Groups

The LIFE Group ministry at Blue Ridge is an essential part of our mission as a church. Young people have the opportunity to serve in this important and exciting ministry by offering their gifts and talents to care for children ages 12 and under at our LIFE Group meetings.

The LIFE Group Childcare Worker Program is open to young women ages 14 and up. We see this as a fantastic opportunity for them to build up the rest of the body by making adult discipleship possible within our LIFE Groups. This program also provides an opportunity for young women to invest spiritually in the children under their care. In addition, this program will pay young women for their services as a token of our appreciation for their time and investment. (Pay is $15 / week for each 2-hour LIFE Group session.)

It is our goal to make LIFE Group Childcare a high-quality experience that children and workers will enjoy. Childcare has the opportunity to make or break a LIFE Group. If the childcare is well done, families feel comfortable coming to the group and the kids actually look forward to attending. If the childcare is poorly done, families may be forced to drop out of the group.

In order to ensure excellence in our childcare program, we are committing to train workers to equip them to do their best, provide quality materials and activities in order to engage the children under their care, and pay them for their time. We are asking that young women interested in the program make the following commitments:

1. Fill out and submit the LIFE Group Childcare Worker Application by Friday, August 26, 2011.
2. Fill out and submit a background check form by Friday, August 26, 2011 (use the minor background check form for ages 17 and under; use adult form for ages 18 and over)
3. Commit to a LIFE Group to care for the children through the fall session of LIFE Groups (fall groups begin the week of September 11)
4. Attend a training session at the church (date to be announced shortly)

As we are considering applications, priority will be given to those applicants who are applying to work in their own family’s LIFE Group. If you are interested in this important program, please apply today!
