Church Work Day – November 1

Come one, come all…all ages and all abilities to our Fall Work Day, November 1st, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Come for all or as much as you can. Fall Clothing Exchange Coming Up

FALL CLOTHING EXCHANGE NEXT WEEK

Fall Clothing Exchange kicks off on Monday, October 20 through Saturday, October 25. Hours of operation Monday through Thursday are 9 am to 1 pm. There’s a CRUCIAL need for volunteers to help welcome the community on Saturday, October 25th from 8 am to noon. Clothes will be accepted Monday through Thursday only. Adults-only shopping hours will be Wednesday and Friday nights from 7 to 9 pm. We expect TONS of clothes so plan to come and take what you need. If you have never been, the ENTIRE sanctuary is FILLED to overflowing with clothes of all sizes, shapes and colors! Clothing Exchange Enrichment Classes

Next week, there will be enrichment classes running from 9 to noon during the clothing exchange. These classes are for parents who plan to be on-site the entire time helping in the clothing exchange while their kids are in class. You must sign up for classes by Friday, Oct. 17th or there will be no supplies for your child! Classes cost $8 per child, per class and are paid directly to the class instructor.

Classes are:
Tuesday — Mime
Wednesday — Drama
Thursday — Art
Friday — Science

Class sizes ARE limited so sign-ups will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Some classes are almost filled! Do not hesitate to sign up today! H.O.E. Down (a “Halloween Other Event”) – October 31

Everyone is invited to the Tigges home for a great time of outdoor activities, food, music, games for all ages, costume contest (nothing spooky, please). Got a Small Storage Shed You Don’t Need?

BRBC is in need of a small storage shed for basic lawn and outdoor equipment. Do you have one you don’t need that could be brought to the church grounds? If so contact Jeff Stocker (jeffrey.e.stocker[at]aero.org).

Levite Cleaning Ministry During Awana

Starting Sunday September 7th, we will resume cleaning the church during Awana (6-8 pm). Thank you very much youth group for cleaning during the summer! You guys did a wonderful job.

This is a great opportunity to serve the church while your kids are at Awana. Many volunteers are needed to help during the whole Awana year. If you are available to help, contact Jeff Stocker (540-338-8543 or jeffrey.e.stocker [at] aero.org) so that we can make sure there are enough helpers.

Benevolence fund running low

We have a designated contribution fund to respond to emergency financial needs in our congregation and in the community. We have been inundated by requests recently, so our fund is running low. If you would like to contribute to this fund, just write “benevolence” on your check or if you are an online donor, you can choose this fund online.

Baby Shower Coordinator Needed

Many thanks to Katie Dunn who has been serving as our baby shower coordinator. Due to other commitments, Katie wants to pass the blessings of this ministry on to someone else. If you like coordinating people and details and want to help continue our tradition of honoring each new life added to our congregation, contact Karen Gill (jkgillfam[at]comcast.net or 540-338-0764) for further information.

Get involved with AWANA this year!

Mark your calendars and pray about your involvement with our dynamic Awana children’s program which starts September 7th. For more information on what it means to be involved as an Awana leader or to volunteer, contact Earl or Geni Hall (earl[at]phc.edu or genihall[at]aol.com, or 540-338-4287).

Meals Ministry

Often times we are able to minister to our church families by providing meals during an extended illness, hospital stay, or birth of a baby. This is a great way to serve, to meet new people, and to do a behind-the-scenes-but-valuable ministry. Please contact Geni Hall (genihall[at]aol.com or 540-338-4287) to get on our availability list to help as needs arise. Also, Christy Shipe is coordinating meals for the Thomas family while Melissa is going through her six months of chemotherapy. If you would like to help with this ongoing need for the Thomases, you can sign up online or contact Christy directly (540-338-2597).

Clothing Exchange Date Set

Yes, we are adding another opportunity to share the blessing of our abundance as we add a Fall Clothing Exchange this year. So start sorting through your closets and be prepared to come October 20 to 25, to drop off stuff you no longer need and take home what others have donated.
